FAQs on Gujiya Recipe

1. Can I bake the Gujiyas?

Certainly, you can choose an alternative to deep-frying by baking your Gujiyas. Preheat the oven to 200°C, follow our Gujiya recipe, place them on a baking sheet, and bake for 20-30 minutes until they turn a lovely golden brown.

2. Why is my Gujiya hard?

Even if you follow the Gujiya recipe dedicatedly, sometimes they can turn out hard for different reasons.

  • Dry dough – you did not add enough oil or ghee
  • Over-kneading
  • Dry filling

To fix this, add more ghee or oil to the Gujiya dough, knead less, or adjust the filling’s moisture with more Nestlé MILKMAID.

3. Why did my Gujiya’s filling leak?

If your Gujiya’s filling leaks, it may be due to improper sealing or overfilling. Prevent leaks during frying by firmly pinching the edges to ensure a tight seal. Also, avoid overstuffing, as excessive filling can break the dough.

4. What is the shelf life of Gujiyas?

Gujiyas can stay fresh for around 1 to 2 weeks when stored in an airtight container at room temperature. You can even refrigerate them to extend their freshness for slightly longer.
